Explain Everything from MorrisCooke.com is one of our favorite iPad apps for the teacher and the student. You can use it as an interactive slate or whiteboard and to create dynamic interactive lessons, activities, assessments, and tutorials.
Explain Everything allows you to:
- Import any document, picture or video from iPad or any cloud service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, etc.
- Draw, annotate, highlight, use on-screen laser pointer
- Move, animate, zoom and pan all objects on the screen
- Record and play
- Export and share to the iPad or any cloud service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, etc.
Begin by opening a new presentation screen. There are a variety of tools available. Every item you put onto the screen is scalable and moveable. (click image to enlarge)
One of our favorite features is the laser pointer. There are a variety of shapes and colors. Draw students’ attention to what you are explaining on the iPad.
One of our favorite uses of Explain Everything is to import a story (pdf or other file) and have the student record themselves reading while use the onscreen laser pointer. The recording can be saved for you to review at a later time. How cool is that!
All work can be saved or exported to a variety of cloud services or to the iPad.
Download Explain Everything’s free tutorial book from the iTunes Bookstore. Open it in iBooks on your iPad or if you have the Mavericks operating system on your Mac, open it in iBooks right on your computer. The tutorials contain easy-to-follow video explanations.
The app currently costs $2.99 in the iTunes App Store. Schools can purchase the app at half price in the Volume Purchase Store.
