Hybrid courses have required face to face hours as well as an online component. Most Courses run 4 weeks.


Online Tools for Flexible Formative Assessment

Effective formative assessment can transform the teaching and learning experience and dramatically improve student learning outcomes. This course focuses on why formative assessment is important and how to effectively use it in the classroom with the help of several online tools. The participants in this course will learn to use free assessment tools like Answer Garden, Padlet, Socrative, Kahoot!, ClassKick, and NearPod to help them formatively assess their students’ learning.

Chromebooks in the Cloud Classroom-Elementary

Bring the Cloud to your Classroom! This "Bring Your Own Device" workshop is designed to help educators effectively integrate Chromebooks and Cloud tools into a project-based educational framework. Participants gain experience using Chromebooks, evaluating applications (apps) for educational use, and exploring strategies for teaching with this technology.

Utah's Online Library Research and Resources

UEN Essentials|October 2, 9, 16, 23 | |Time 3:30-5:30|
This course guides K–12 teachers and library media specialists through the hundreds of thousands of digital resources licensed for educational use by Utah educators and learners. In addition to gaining familiarity with online databases included in Pioneer Online Library, participants practice applying the Utah library media core curriculum’s six-step process for information problem-solving while sharing ideas for incorporating research and multimedia resources into lessons and projects for students.

Cloud Classrooms with Chromebooks- Secondary

Online Courses

These 6 week online courses are taught fully online.  You may come to the ASB Computer lab the first day of class for help getting oriented to Canvas.  However if you are comfortable with online courses this is not required.


Digital Citizenship

ISTE Standard 4 |Beginning Oct 4| |Online|
In this course participants will learn what digital citizenship is, how to teach students to be responsible digital citizens, and how to talk with students openly about cyberbullying and other potential pitfalls of social media. Participants will learn the how to model digital citizenship and develop tools and lessons to use with students of all ages.

Multimedia Projects with iPads

ISTE Standard 1|Begins September 14 | |Online|
The iPad’s powerful collection of multimedia tools provide  innovative ways for students to demonstrate their learning through creative and motivating projects. This six week online course is designed to help educators effectively integrate this technology into a project-based educational framework. Participants will learn to plan, teach, manage and evaluate a variety of student created multimedia projects tied to the core curriculum. Additional topics include finding free educational resources from uen.org/apps4deu, eMedia, Pioneer library and iTunes U.

The Connected Educator: Develop you PLN

ISTE Standard 4 |Begins November 2| |Online|
This course helps teachers tap the educational potential of social media tools for your classroom. Participants will learn how tools like Twitter, Pinterest, Teaching Channel, Google +, Facebook, and more can be incorporated into your classroom. Along the way, participants will explore strategies for using social media tools to challenge and engage students, as well as improve parent-student-teacher communication.

Canvas LMS: Deliver Instruction ONLINE

This 6-week online course is designed for teachers who are looking to modernize their classrooms with a Learning Management System to support a "Blended Learning" environment or teach an online course. This course will only cover the use of the Canvas LMS.
